41-year-old dies after rescue from water off Seaside beach

A 41-year-old man died after being pulled from the water off the Oregon coast in Seaside on Wednesday evening, according to KATU.

Seaside Police officers responded to the area off Avenue T just before 7:30 p.m. and saw two people in the surf signaling for help. Fire and rescue crews from Seaside, Cannon Beach, and the U.S. Coast Guard then launched jet skis, swimmers, and air support to reach the victim.

The man was brought back to shore and taken to Providence Seaside Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Officials had not identified him by name as of the report.

KATU also reported that two fire department rescuers were treated and released for injuries suffered during the rescue.
