Motorcyclist Dies After Colliding with Construction Vehicle on I-5 in Portland

Late Thursday evening, a motorcyclist lost their life after colliding with a parked construction vehicle on southbound Interstate 5 near North Killingsworth Street in Portland. The crash occurred just before 11:30 p.m. on June 12, 2025, marking the city’s 12th fatal traffic incident this year.

According to the Portland Police Bureau, officers from the North Precinct responded to reports of the crash at 11:29 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered that the motorcycle had struck the rear of a construction vehicle that was outfitted with an impact-absorbing bumper and actively stationed in a closed lane for roadwork. Although immediate lifesaving efforts were made, the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the rider has not yet been publicly released.
