Woodburn police are investigating a fatal crash that killed a bicyclist on the Interstate 5 overpass at Newberg Highway on Friday night.
Officers responded at about 9:30 p.m. on July 24, according to police. Investigators said a car driven by 18-year-old Jose Quevedo-Vazquez of Salem was heading west and moved into the right lane to reach southbound Interstate 5. At the same time, Travis Martin, 29, of Aurora, was riding westbound on a bicycle and entered the roadway from the sidewalk, crossing in front of the vehicle.
Martin was taken to a hospital and later died there, police said. The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Woodburn police said the crash does not appear criminal, and impairment and speed do not appear to have been factors.
