A serene Saturday afternoon turned fatal when a two-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle and a car occurred on Oregon Route 224 near Estacada. The crash resulted in the untimely death of Richard Lee Detherage, a senior pastor based in Silverton.

According to the Oregon State Police, the accident took place at approximately 12:38 PM at milepost 25. Daniel Lee Aragon, a 55-year-old resident of Estacada, was driving a red Ford Focus eastbound and attempted to turn left into a driveway. This maneuver led to a collision with a westbound black Harley Davidson motorcycle, which was being operated by 71-year-old Richard Lee Detherage.
Despite immediate lifesaving efforts by the responders, Pastor Detherage was pronounced dead at the scene. The roadway was closed for about three hours as law enforcement conducted their investigation with the assistance of Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, the Medical Examiner’s Office, Estacada Fire District, and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
