Portland police arrested a suspect after a shooting in the Russell Neighborhood left one man injured on Friday, March 13, 2026. The Portland Police Bureau said officers responded around 3 p.m. to the 14000 block of Northeast Eugene Court.

When officers arrived, they found an adult man who had been shot. Police said he was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The bureau said the suspect was believed to be known to the victim and fled the scene after the shooting.

Officers returned to the area early Saturday, March 14, 2026, at about 12:30 a.m. after learning the suspect had come back. Working with the Enhanced Community Safety Team and detectives, they located and arrested Robert J. Trujillo, 71, of Portland, without incident.

Police said Trujillo was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on charges of attempted murder in the second degree, attempted assault in the first degree, assault in the second degree, and unlawful use of a weapon. Anyone with information about the case who has not already spoken with police is asked to contact the bureau and reference case number 26-72556.

Shooting cases can leave injured people with hospital bills, missed work, and questions about records and insurance. A brief police report can help preserve the basic timeline, but injured people still need to keep discharge papers, bills, and follow-up instructions in one place. That record can matter later in a personal injury claim, especially when the facts are still being sorted out.
